Community as an Antidote to Chaos!
By Julia Alvarez
Well, these are weird times – to say the least! While I am finding myself tempted to give into the overwhelm of the news cycle and crawl into isolation, I know that community is what I need in order to stay grounded and to find glimmers of hope. If you are also seeking community and spaces/opportunities to strategize and brainstorm, please join us for one (or both!) of our new community spaces:
Discuss & Disrupt: This free, virtual gathering offers an opportunity to come together to discuss the monthly act of disruption from our newsletter – as well as adjacent topics that emerge in the conversation. This series is open to anyone – program staff, executive staff, consultants, folks working in higher education, etc. – if you engage with the social change sector, we would love for you to join us! These sessions will be lightly facilitated by Danny, our Director of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, and Libby, one of our Catalysts. Our first Discuss & Disrupt will focus on how to have courageous conversations with funders about how they are positioned to meet this current moment. We look forward to hearing stories from the field, to learning how you all are approaching funding conversations, and to having generative discussions about how to encourage grantmaking foundations to think differently about giving right now. Please use this link to register for our session on April 18 from 10-11am MST. If that date doesn’t work for you, register for May 16 from 10-11am MST!
Gather & Galvanize: This free, in-person gathering is specifically geared towards organizational leaders – executive directors, CEOs, co-directors, members of “upper management,” etc. – and is designed to provide space to talk with peers and colleagues about challenges you face as organizational leaders during these times. Hosted at our NW Denver office, we invite you to join Julia, our CEO and founder, as well as other members of our staff, to break bread and build communities of support. These gathering will not be topic-specific, but rather will follow the needs of the group. We are limiting this session to organizational leaders because we know that you are facing slightly different challenges right now that your teams, and we want to provide space for you to process and grow alongside your peers. Snacks and drinks (alcoholic and non) will be provided. Please use this link to register for our gathering on April 29 from 4-6pm MST. If that date doesn’t work for you, please join us on June 3 from 4-6pm MST. You don’t need to stay the whole time, but we encourage you to join us!
We know your time is precious, but we also know that many hands make light work – and the more we can be in this together, the better! If you have questions about these opportunities, please check out our events page or reach out to Zane at zane@pointbestrategies.com and she can tell you more about them! Finally, if you aren’t already subscribed to our newsletter, please subscribe by clicking here. Our Discuss & Disrupt topic will change each month, depending on the monthly act of disruption! The best way to stay engaged is by following the newsletter.
We hope you will join us – we look forward to being in community with you!
