Laura McGarry

Director of Strategic Initiatives, she/her

Laura has over 20 years of experience in the public sector, including work in public education, extensive capacity building experience, and expertise in grantwriting and facilitation for nonprofits of all sizes and for local government agencies. She has held positions ranging from educator to consultant to director of programs and operations. Laura is a skilled strategist, developer and writer with a track record of funding success that includes leading grantwriting projects that have been awarded over $34 million since 2012. Across the past 15 years, her volunteerism in the social sector has centered around her passion for food access and justice and urban agriculture. This has included seven years of service as a founding board member for a grassroots, youth-focused urban agriculture organization and three years on the Sustainable Wheat Ridge resident committee. 

Laura holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Colorado Denver where she tailored her coursework and projects to focus on food policy, nonprofit advocacy, and the intersection between public education, food access and food-/agriculture-related policies and programs. 

When she’s not working, you can find Laura outdoors with her family or in her expansive backyard garden.
